09 Jan AQQUA Exclusive Water Training: Your water workout
At Activate Sports Club we love surprising you and coming up with new things, that’s why in August 2018 we brought you an exclusive water workout. Thanks to the exclusive AQQUA™ machines, working out in the water is more effective than ever!
Knowing how important exercising regularly is for our health, our goal is that every person that comes to our club, regardless of their age and physical condition, can find an activity they really enjoy.
If you haven’t trained in a long time, you’re recovering from an injury or you’re looking for a low impact activity, Aqqua™ Exclusive Water Training is a great option. Through a fitness circuit in the water, carefully designed to give you all the advantages of a full body workout, an instructor will explain every exercise and make sure you’re doing it correctly.
Working out with a trainer has many advantages, especially in this case, where the machines are totally groundbreaking and you’ll need someone to show you how to use them in order to make to most of each workout. And if the trainer is as nice as Riccardo, founder of AQQUA™ and our personal trainer, time will fly by!
You might be thinking that even though we live in Tenerife, jumping in the pool in the middle of winter isn’t a great idea, but once you feel the 30-degree water, you’ll soon realise that you’re better off inside!

AQQUA™ Exclusive Water Training circuit
At Activate Sports Club you’ll find a circuit with 7 exercises using AQQUA™ machines. With these simple exercises you’ll get your heart pumping at the same time as you tone your upper and lower body, as well as your abdomen.
During the circuit, you’ll find seven stops. You’ll spend 5 minutes in each one, carrying out different variations of the same exercise. The instructor will tell you the type of exercise that suits you best, taking into account your physical condition and your goals, so you’ll benefit from a personalized workout tailored to your needs.
Duration of the circuit: From 30 to 45 minutes.
You’ll spend the first five minutes on a stationary bicycle with gears, specially designed for the water. Depending on our physical condition, the instructor will indicate how fast we should go to make sure you benefit from a proper warmup and get ready for the next stop. A good exercise to tone legs without hurting your knees.
As kids, we’ve always felt the urge to jump in the pool, so why stop now? Thanks to the jumpe you’ll find in the second station, you’ll get your heart pumping in no time. As we weigh less in the water, jumping will be much easier! Plus, we don’t run the risk of hurting ourselves with the impact.
The third stop is part of the multi-station, a unique machine worldwide, fully customizable depending on the needs of each user. The instructor will show you how to place the cables, with the advantage that you can use them high, to tone your back and arms, or low, to exercise the muscles in your legs.
4. Arm bike
In the fourth station, you’ll find an arm bike. When moving it forward, you’ll activate the front part of your body, such as your chest or forearms. Depending on the results you want to obtain, you can raise or lower the intensity of the exercise, moving faster if you’re looking to burn more calories.
5. Bike with no seat
If you thought the first stop of the circuit was fun, wait until you reach this one! If pedalling in water can be tricky, imagine doing it without a seat! During five minutes you’ll work your abdomen to maintain your balance and use your legs without falling to the sides. If it’s too easy, you can always do it horizontally!
6. Arm bike backwards
In the sixth station, we find the arm bike again, but this time we’ll be moving our arms backwards. By doing it this way, we’ll be activating all our posterior muscles, toning our back and improving scapulae mobility. We can also choose the speed we want, depending on our goals.
To finish this full-body circuit, what could be better than a nice walk? Maybe this seems too easy, but don’t be fooled, at any moment Riccardo will tell you to speed things up and you’ll be running in no time! Our advice is to make the most of the fact that running 15 minutes inside the water is the same as doing it during an hour outside and give it your all!
